How come Bangladesh suddenly transformed into such a tough team when in July this year they lost matches to the likes of Ireland and Netherlands?

Is this series win just an illusion and Bangladesh will be back to 'being themselves' when they meet teams with better batting line ups?

Could it be the case that more than Bangladesh's strength this series spotlit on the fact that New Zealand is approaching its nadir in cricket... just a matter of time when Vettori and other 2-3 good cricketers that they have leave the team and theyll be facing the situation identical to of West Indies/ Zimbabwe.

Did NZ make Bangladesh look better than they actually are?

  • than you also have to agree that without Tamim, ashraful bangaldesh's middle order didn't work that well

now think that if they come back and also Mashrafi joins in the team .this team would be 50% more stronger than what you r seeing now

the difference is after coming back from England by beating England, Bangladesh team began their world cup preparation training .with two new English county coach those training session really was a test for the Bangladeshi players.they have to work harder than before .it was the most intense training session ever in the history of Bangladesh

  • What is your take on these cricket statistics?

This question is for those who know there is more than Arabic numerals in mathematics.

Considering from Jan 2008, South Africa certainly deserves to be called No. 1 even in test matches.
SA played 19 tests since 01 Jan 2008, won 12 of them and lost 5. They won 5 test series (2 series vs Bangladesh, 1 vs Aus, Eng, WI) lost one against Aus and drawn one against India.
On the other hand, Australia played 18 matches won 8 and lost 6. They won 3 series (against SA, NZ,& WI) and lost 2 (against India and SA)
India has played 18 test matches won 7 but lost only 4. They won 3 test series, lost one against SL, drawn one against SA.

In ODIs, SA won 19 and lost 7 out of their 27 matches. They won 7 series/tournaments during this period, only England managed take an ODI series away from SA.
Australia played 38 ODIs, won 21 and lost 15, won 3 series/tournaments and lost 3, and drawn one series
India played 39 ODI matches , won 26 and lost 10. They have 5 series/tournaments and lost 2.
Pakistan too had a decent run winning 21 of their 29 matches but 12 of their wins came against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

From the above breakup, which teams should be no. 1 2 and 3 in the rankings?
Sorry Bill P, The India-Australia series was spread across 2007 and 2008, and Australia failed to win any in 2008. I've included the results for matches that took place in 2008. And it's in favour of India.
The 3 matches that were played in 2008 in that acrimonious series, India won 1, Australia won 1 and one match was drawn.
The first test was played in December of 2007, and you second in 2 to 6 Jan of 2008, which Australia won (thanks to the umpires) the next match was won by India and fourth was drawn.
And that series is not included in the series, or should I include that as a drawn series ?

  • Why Pakistan is performing so horribly from the last 3 or 4 years?

    They are losing to everyone.

    Test Matches
They Have made a World Record of Losing Against Australia , They Lost Against South Africa (Both Home and Away) , They Lost Against SRI lanka , They were losing in newzealand when rain Intervened to save them , They Also have lost 2 out of last 4 series against India with one series Draw and one win. Lost against England in england too .

    ODIs
Lost Both home and Away against INDIA ( In fact Pakistan has lost 3 out of last 4 Bilateral series between the two countries)
Lost Against SOUTH AFRICA (Home and AWAY)
LOST against Newzealand recently in 2-1.
Slaughtered By Australia everywhere (Home , away , neutral what not)
Lost against Sri lanka in the ODI series after T-20 World cup also lost at home against SL before.

The only team they have won against in both tests and ODIs is Windies and other teams like Zimbabwe and bangladesh.

Don't tell me they are Isolated or anything , their record is pretty crap even at home and before Isolation and during the last 3 or 4 years.

They are doing well in t-20's but could not back up their performance in other forms like India did after t-20 success in 2007.

What is the reason for Such Humiliating and Horrible performances?

  • bangli tigers........!! can the name any big event for their country?

bangladesh mostly stand at no. 9 in ODI ranking.
and bangladesh have their team debut in 1986, and after 12 years they have their 1st victory in 1998.
and they have their first series win in 2004/5 against zimbabwae.

if we hae at other sub-continent teams.
india have debut in 1974, and after 9 years, have won world cup. and today it is one of best team of world.
srilanka have debut in 1975, and after 21 years they also have won world cup in 96.
and pakistan also have debut in 1972, and after 20 years in 92 they also have won world cup.
and are good teams standing at 4, 6 ODI ranking.
but bangladesh in 24 years of cricket, they are still not able to have win any big event, but they don't have too many victories, in their career. they have finished last year as most succesful year of career, with 14 win out of 19 games.
but these been mostly of underdogs, they have won against scotland, netherland, and West indies A team.
they have only few victories against good teams, as they have win against Australia, and 2007 world cup they beat india in group match, and keep india out of World cup, and in super eight they also beat SA.
and they lost west indies in first icc T20 world cup.

in their 24 year of cricket they don't have won any big icc event, but they not have won any series against good team.
and from their current performence, still not looking to win against any good team.
so will they be able to win any big icc event . and name any big event for their country.?
