India won the most medals in both 2007 Asian Winter Games and the 2006 Asian Summer Games. At the most recent Asian games, India won 10 gold, 17 silver, 26 bronze for a total of 53 medals. India is a sporting power in Asia, especially in sports like cricket and hockey. Germany & USA may dominate the overall medals table at the 2010 games but will India be the top Asian nation?
India has the largest population and the largest economy in Asia so they have the people and money to train the athletes. India also has more sports facilities and more young people playing sports then any other country in the world.
Just a comment on some of the responses. India could not have finished 81st and 83rd in the ski competitions because only the world's top 35 skiers are entered into the competition. Indian athletes are proud and would either ski hard and win or fall down trying, they would never succumb to a lesser finish.
Also, one person said that soccer was the big sport in India. That is not true. India is a top country at cricket and hockey. The hockey medals have yet to be handed out, India has won many gold medals at hockey before and this year is not any different.
Also, India may not have as many athletes as their best friends, America at the Olympics but their athletes can be entered into multiple events thus winning more then one medal. Think of Michael Phelps or Stephanie Rice.

Fifa has anounced that a South American Country will be hosting the 2014 World Cup. All South American countries have already voted Brazil even though there has been no official meeting of this kind. With all of that wraped up, there are allready bids comming in for the 2018 Cup.
I know that this is still 12 more years away and the world can change in 12 years but where do you think that the 2018 World Cup will be?
