Murt and Noel Ryan and Marcus Maloney Play Some Reels

  • Posted By comhaltas

Originally from Newport, Co. Tipperary, button accordion player Murt Ryan and his brother Noel (guitar) now live in Ennis, Co. Clare. Together with well-known banjo player Marcus Maloney from Cappamore, Co. Limerick, they play three reels ending with The Whistling Postman. Although often credited to Paddy O' Brien, the accordion maestro and composer from Nenagh, Co. Tipperary, Paddy did not compose this tune. However, he did compose a reel, "The Four-Leafed Shamrock", the beginning of which slightly resembles "The Whistling Postman". They were recorded at the Peig Ryan Tribute Concert held in June of 2007. More info and videos at comhaltas.ie
