STORY: The future of international cricket in Pakistan is looking bleak after an attack on the Sri Lanka team in Lahore on Tuesday, March 3. The ambush on the team and its police escorts killed seven policemen and the driver of the bus as it drove to the main stadium in Lahore. Six players and two team officials, including a British assistant coach, were injured. [Mohammad Mubashir, Eyewitness]: "They fired a rocket with a launcher which missed the target. After that they hurled a grenade. This I saw with my own eyes as I was lying there on the ground.” Mubashir who has played in Pakistan's under 15 and under 19 teams, said despite the attack, he has hopes for cricket in his country. [Mohammad Mubashir, Eyewitness]: "Every (Cricket) team will visit Pakistan if the situation gets better. God willing, I hope the cricket in Pakistan will get better." Tuesday's deadly attack will most likely spoil Pakistan's chances of co-hosting the 2011 World Cup. Amateur cricketer Salman Ahmed said the attack would affect more than just cricket in Pakistan.   Before asking for support from foreign cricket boards, Pakistani cricketers old and new should get together and conduct cricket matches across Pakistan build a huge public opinion that this type of terrorism will not be tolerated in their country. Pakistan needs a revolution of right minded people (like Rameez Raja) to defeat this terrorist elements. The big question is do these x and present cricketers have the guts to take on this terrorist?

  Every crisis is an opportunity. What Pakistan cricketing authorities should do at this difficult time is to bulid up a proper structure of domestic cricket like ICL/IPL where more and more youngsters can engage themselves with cricket rather than holding guns and arms etc. We have an example of South Africa that remained away from international cricket for around 30 years. Since there domestic cricket was so strong, on their way back to Intl game, they were not less than any other strong team.
